I often hear from people who say they’re doing all the right things – trying to eat well, move more, manage stress – but somehow they feel worse than a few years ago.
They’re more tired, find it harder to focus, or notice their energy levels just aren’t what they used to be. It’s frustrating and very common.
What I’ve come to understand is that many of us wait until we 'feel old' or face a health scare before really taking action. But by then, some of the damage has already started.
That’s why midlife is such a crucial time for healthy ageing
It’s the window when your metabolism begins to shift, when your risk for conditions like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and arthritis starts to rise, and when lifestyle changes can make a real difference in the decades ahead.
For me personally, this isn’t just theory. I have a family history of dementia and cardiovascular disease, so I’m all too aware that the choices I make now will influence my health in later life.
Metabolic health isn’t just about weight or diet. It’s about how your body processes sugar and fats, how well your cells produce energy, and how stress affects your hormones and brain function.
When these systems start to falter, the effects can ripple through your whole body and mind.
This is why I’ve shifted my professional focus to helping men and women in midlife to understand these processes and how to take control before things slide too far.
I provide practical, evidence-based advice on diet, stress management and lifestyle habits that support long-term health.
If you haven’t already, I recommend checking out my recent blogs:
Please also keep an eye out for upcoming blogs on the links between your metabolism and brain aging (now published), and why sleep matters for your metabolism.
Remember – metabolic health is the foundation for healthy ageing. The sooner you invest in it, the better your odds of staying fit, sharp and independent as you get older.
Midlife: decide how you age. 💕
If you’re feeling tired, stuck or frustrated with your changing body, you’re not alone – and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.
